Santa Monica Metro Station Opening

The challenge was where to put 2500 people after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Santa Monica Metro station. The closest reasonable walk was Santa Monica Place Mall. So as not to disturb the retail activity, the decision was to use the top of one the adjacent parking garages. We used food vendors from Santa Monica Place and brought in a bar service. Most of the work was in the pre production process with lots discussion with fire, security and the city of Santa Monica who owned the parking lot.
